Great piece on St. Thomas Aquinas: The Silence of Saint Thomas, by Joseph Pieper. Got this via A Catholic Page for Lovers, one of the very best sites I've ever stumbled onto on the net. I also highly recommend the blog, A Catholic Blog for Lovers. Great stuff!
I particularly appreciate finding this essay on St. Thomas Aquinas, because he is one of my favorite saints, yet there is so little one can deduce about his personality from his writing - very much unlike St. Augustine, as the article notes. So I'm very, very grateful. It also gave some interesting background on the torturous early days of the Franciscans and the Dominicans, and how they were not exactly welcomed with open arms throughout Christendom. Fascinating.
