I didn't get to go to Confession yesterday (my father went off with the car just before it was time for me to go; and my mother was at work with the other auto) so no communion for me. Today was the first week of Advent, so Immaculate Conception had a lot of purple laid out! The feast of the Immaculate Conception is coming up Dec. 8, and it's a Holy Day of Obligation (gentle reminder). So you are required to go to Mass! This means you, Betsy (he he he). The Immaculate Conception is the Patroness of the United States, and the patroness of that parish, of course. They're having a Bishop there next Sunday. Fun fun!
The trouble with Christmas is that there is a great deal of holiday programming on. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of it! But Mother always insists that we watch every single second of it, even if it is a probably lousy TV movie starring Jennifer Love Hewitt or similar. It's even worse when It's a Wonderful Life comes on. I loooove that movie, but Mother also looooooves it and likes to watch it over and over again. It also causes her to bawl like a baby. She starts crying when young George Bailey has his confrontation with Gower the pharmacist and becomes progressively worse until they are all gathered around the Christmas tree at the end, which is when the reserve flood-gates open up. I get sniffly too, sometimes, but not that badly. The only time I really cry over entertainment is when it's a good book. Then I really let loose!
