Jerry Orbach, who played the sarcastic, immortal Lennie Briscoe on NBC's long-running Law and Order has died, apparently of cancer. Read this great tribute to "Lennie" written when his character left L & O.
Here is an interesting post from Free Republic on the "culpability of God" in the massive number of casualties in the tsunami disaster. It is a pretty angry missive, but the ensuing comments are very good. The point is: God is not the cause of suffering. The mystery of why He permits it is mixed up with the consequences of sin, free will, and at some point the recognition that it is beyond our ability to understand.
