"La Vierge, L'Enfant Jesus et Saint Jean Baptiste" by William Bouguereau, my all-time favorite painter. Wellll, maybe he's in a tie with Jan Van Eyck. All I can say is I loathe most "modern" - that is, abstract art - if for no other reason that I believe art has an ontological purpose beyond itself - ars gratia artis, noooo. MGM can take a good running leap ... ;) I doubt anyone is in the mood for a rant on the nature and purpose of art and beauty, or my somewhat embittered mutterings about the utilitarian, warehouse-like "Catholic churches" we are fond of building nowadays (grr) so I am clamming up ...
