PETA madness

Via A Saintly Salmagundi:

The "cow pope" wants you to be a vegetarian! Because it's merciful! And the Christian thing to do! It's not like there is anything about sacrificing lambs and calves in the Bible or anything! You horrible, horrible meat-eaters. ::: Sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell :::

How would you address him? Your Moo-ness? Hard to imagine a cow chanting the Divine Office or the canon at Mass. Just doesn't fit, eh.

Seriously, it is just offensive, and rather anti-Catholic. It is definitely what one would expect from PETA, that unhappy organization. I believe a little while ago they had a billboard of the Virgin Mary cradling a dead cow or something in a similar vein. Ick.

My brother says that PETA really stands for People Eating Tasty Animals. And I saw a bumper sticker once that read "For every steak you don't eat, vegetarian, I'm going to eat three." Don't get me wrong, I understand why some people might not want to eat meat - although personally I could never give up ham and beef.

Mark this down as a nasty bit of silliness. But somehow-amusing-at-the-same-time. I will put it in my file ...
