It all goes so fast

Spring Break is almost over. I think the fact that it occurred during Holy Week might have something to do with how speedy it seems to have gone - Mother and I are always rushing off to Mass. Last Sunday we went to Palm Sunday at the Cathedral up in Cleveland; on Wednesday we went to the 9 AM daily Mass at St. Mary's. I got to meet Fr. Ference, and all of Mother's little friends. Fr. Ference was very nice, but I felt strange trying to make conversation with all those ladies; they were all older than me, but I felt like I was supposed to be "on the same level with them" - you know, call them by their first names, etc. How awkward. Ehhh.

We didn't go on Maundy Thursday (hurray for college visits to Cincinnati!) but we did go to the service on Good Friday. It was quite well-done; although Fr. Kordas was there, Fr. Ference was the presider. His homily was on the nuptial meaning of the Sacrifice of the Cross. He even mixed in a little Latin when discussing the consummation on the Cross of the marriage between the Bride (the Church) and the Bridegroom (Our Lord) - "consummatum est!" ("It is finished."

He also told a story about how Fr. Kordas saw, in a Gothic-architectural-style church, a picture on the wall of a man and woman in bed together. What on earth is this!? thought Fr. Kordas to himself. But then he realized: That is the Bride and the Bridegroom, the Church and Her Lord.

There were also a couple Latin hymns. The cross we venerated did not have a corpus; and the altar servers (boys and girls) were wearing odd black cassock-type garb. But other than that ... Well, it wasn't a Solemn High Tridentine Mass, but as I said, it was quite well-done.
