"Let them eat meat"

CWN has a collection of stories on dioceses which have granted a dispensation for meat-eating on Friday - which, although it's a Friday in Lent, is also the Feast of St. Patrick.

Our diocese, Cleveland, is one where the bishop, in fear of the corned beef-eating Irish mobs, has given the dispensation... Just kidding. Well, about the "Irish mobs" bit. His Excellency has most definitely given the green light for traditional meat dinners. My mother isn't making corned beef, she's making chicken, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce... Rather like Christmas dinner, but in March.
